COLIN Ultra-Indie Zombie Flick at FACETS September 24-30

by on Sep.10, 2010, under Zombie Movies

You may have heard about COLIN – the acclaimed British zombie movie that was made for just about $70. Well, now’s your chance to see it at Facets Multi-media Center next weekend!

Our hero Colin is bitten by a zombie, he dies and returns as one of the undead. Following a zombie outbreak that sees our eponymous hero become a member of the undead, Colin tells the story from the zombie’s point of view. We follow him as he wanders through suburbia during the throes of a cadaverous apocalypse. Through his encounters with objects, places and people, we learn who Colin was and more pertinently, what he has now become. Including a broad daylight zombie versus human street battle, an epic housebound siege and bags of gore, Colin is the must-see zombie phenomenon of the year and has already wowed audiences at Cannes, proving that you do not need expensive equipment, a famous cast or even a film crew to make a successful movie. What you DO need is a great script, a lot of enthusiasm and by low budget, I mean bargain-basement low. The director, Marc Price made rent by working nights at a taxicab company and shot and edited the film over a period of 18 months. Price was assisted by volunteers, and zombie extras were recruited via MySpace and Facebook. Colin was created for only £45 ($70), which was for “a crowbar, a couple of tapes… and some tea and coffee to keep the zombies happy,” Price said.

Musical of the Living Dead

by on Sep.09, 2010, under Chicago Zombie News & Events, Chicago Zombie Stage Shows

OPENING OCTOBER 7, 2010

Billed as a “Musical Zom-com” (zombie
comedy), Musical of the Living Dead is an original musical parody of
classic zombie films and musical theatre.  Featuring music inspired by
everything from Gershwin to Green Day, Musical of the Living Dead
follows the lives of ten very different people trapped in a farmhouse
during the breakout of a zombie apocalypse. They are all brought
together seeking refuge from the brain-eating zombies outside and,
following classic zombie genre rules, we see who gets eaten, who comes
back to eat someone else and who lives to fight another day.

Musical of the Living
Dead features several sequences of carnage – each one more visceral than
the last. The cast will be bloody…the first few rows of the audience
will be bloody…and everyone will have a bloody good time – laughing and
being horrified all at the same time.

  • Directed by Marc Lewallen and Brad Younts
  • Produced by The Cowardly Scarecrow Theatre Company
  • Presented at the Charnel House
