by bmeadowcroft on Mar.08, 2010, under Chicago Zombie News & Events

International Z-Day (Zombie Day) is this weekend, and there are several groups that are planning events to coordinate with it.

First, there the Official Z-Day 2010 events detailed on the ZDAY2010 website HERE (Scroll down for Chicago).

Venue: ZDAY2010 Screening and Q&A
Location: 6165 N Winthrop, Chicago IL
Contact:
David Gaines
davidgaines1@gmail.com
Phone: 773-655-0129

WE HAVE TWO EVENTS: Thursday, March 11th @ 7pm: We will be hosting a lecture followed by Q&A. There will be drinks, feel free to bring snacks, but this is more so an event to get people acquainted with the tenets of the movement, and to fill in some details to those who are somewhat familiar with the movement. Also, it will serve as a forum for exchanging ideas on how Chicago residents/members can make an impact, and how to most advantageously spread the word. Saturday, March 13th @ 10:00am: We will be hosting the Chicago official ZDay2010 event. This day will include screenings of the Zeitgeist Addendum on a large projected screen, as well as other relevant videos, a potluck, a lecture followed by Q&A, and live streaming of the NYC Zday 2010 Event. Also, it will serve as a forum for exchanging ideas on how Chicago residents/members can make an impact, and how to most advantageously spread the word. We sincerely hope to see you there. As an alternate to street parking, mass transit is nearby. Take the CTA Red Line to the Granville stop. Exit the station, turn right (east towards the lake), walk to the first stop sign (Granville/Winthrop) then cross Winthrop to the building entrance, one door down from the corner.

ZOMBIEPALOOZA at the Abbey Pub, February 6

by Chad Savage on Jan.22, 2010, under Chicago Zombie News & Events

MAKE THIS THE BLOODIEST VALENTINE’S DAY EVER WITH ZOMBIEPALOOZA AT THE ABBEY PUB IN CHICAGO ON SATURDAY, FEB. 6TH, 2010!

Satisfy your craving for heart-warming, heart-stopping Valentine’s Day entertainment with Zombiepalooza at Chicago’s Abbey Pub on Saturday, February 6th at 9:30 PM, presented by The Zombeatles and The Dolls of Doom. The Fab Gore will perform live and undead and The Amazing, Bendable, Posable Dolls of Doom with Nuts ‘N Cherries Burlesque will haunt and hallucinate you with their undeath-defying feats of zombie burlesque. Angus MacAbre (“Scotland’s Funniest Zombie Comedian)” will be on hand to bring more disorder to the mirth and mayhem and to share some of his undeadpan comedy stylings.

Imagine Andy Warhol’s “Exploding Plastic Inevitable” multimedia events with zombies (but no annoying, overexposed Jane Austen zombies, thank God) and you’ll have a pretty good idea of what’s gonna go down. Oh, yeah, we’re also going to show “The Zombeatles: All You Need Is Brains.” This film chronicles the rise and fall of Jaw Nlennon, Pall IcKartney, Gorge Harryson and Dingo Scarr. It’s been described as “one of the most memorable mockumentaries of all time” and “a cross between ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ and ‘Night of the Living Dead.’”

The Amazing, Bendable, Posable Dolls of Dooms with Nuts ‘N Cherries Burlesque will feature the following performers: Lola Martinet, Tila von Twirl, Ray Gunn, Bazooka Joe, and Teddy Bare.

The evening kicks off with “Rock Star Gomeroke,” live band karaoke featuring your humble servants of rock, The Gomers. These guys know more than 3,000 songs and can play any style you can name. You wanted the best live karaoke band, you got the best!

They say vaudeville is dead but nobody told The Zombeatles and The Dolls of Doom. Who better to breathe new life into vaudeville? If you attend only one postmodern, post-apocalyptic vaudeville phantasmagoria this Valentine’s Day season, this is the one to attend.

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. You can buy tickets through the Abbey Pub & Restaurant’s website, conveniently located at http://www.abbeypub.com/. The Abbey Pub & Restaurant is conveniently located at 3420 W. Grace in Chicago, Illinois 60618. Doors open at 9 PM and show starts at 9:30 PM. And remember — it’s B.Y.O.B. – Bring Your Own Brain.

Zombies On Ice 2 Photos!

by Chad Savage on Jan.01, 2010, under Chicago Zombie News & Events, Kitty!

We have a few photos from Zombies On Ice 2 on December 19th. Check’em out HERE.

Zombies On Ice 2

“Zombies on Ice ‘09 was a bit different from the first one last year. It was a tad colder, a bit gloomier, and far fewer zombies attended – only 40 or so came out this year for the now-annual skating event that started at 2:30pm on Saturday. But one thing it DID have over last year: A more intimate feel.

What do I mean by that? Well, everyone was able to interact with everyone else. The public did not feel so over whelmed,  interacted more with us and took more pictures with us (or perhaps that was because of the giant Santa sack filled with candy!).

One of the security staff informed us that we were (yet again) better-behaved than the yearly Santa mob that come around, for which Kitty was thanked repeatedly. Unofficially of course.

Those that came, both in and out of make-up, gathered around 5:00pm for a 6 block jaunt to the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza.

More group pictures. More surprised reactions, laughs and high fives from young and old alike.

Some people seemed a tad disappointed in the numbers, but Kitty couldn’t have been happier.

It may not have been as grandiose as last years event but it sure did feel like a Christmas family outing.

Thank you to all who attended, we missed those that could not, and we shall see you in 2010!

Happy Holidays,

Kitty Zombie”

ZOMBIES ON ICE 2! December 19 at McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink in Millennium Park, Chicago

by Chad Savage on Dec.12, 2009, under Chicago Zombie News & Events, Kitty!

From Kitty Zombie:

Alrighty folks! It’s a late start, but we are still going to be hitting the ice this year from 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm on December 19th, McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink Millennium Park

We got GREAT reviews last year, people said we were better behaved than the Santas that come around. AWESOME! So lets keep it up! No dripping gore or blood please, and be friendly. This is a celebration of holidays and weirdness, so lets have fun with it!

There is no Bears game that day, so parking shouldn’t be all that bad. Since Zombies on Ice is on a Saturday this year, for anyone that would like to hit the Christkindlmarket afterward, we may shamble on over for some yummy warm drinks.

And for those of you over 21, we may just end up hitting a bar or two that evening.

So dress festive, bring some skates so you don’t have to rent them, and lets have some silly fun!

Visit the FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE.

ZOMBIES ON ICE 1, 2008

At least 187 zombies turned out at the McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink Millennium Park on Sunday, December 14, 2008 to join Kitty Zombie for the first ever Chicago Zombies On Ice.

The skating zombies were met by a surprising amount of press coverage (read the Chicago Sun-Times Article), with articles that ran in the local newspapers, radio and TV, not to mention tons of photos and video for the internet.

Everybody had a great time and, more importantly, all the zombies behaved themselves, creating further goodwill in Chicago for zombie flash mobs (unlike those unruly drunk Santas that hit the ice rink the night before!)

DEAD MEAT : It’s the Zombie Apocalypse… for Pretend…

by Chad Savage on Nov.05, 2009, under Chicago Zombie News & Events

Dead Meat is an interactive real time event, set at the onset of the Zombie Apocalypse. Survivors and Zombies alike will use boffer weapons made of foam and Nerf pistols, all of which will be provided, to simulate combat. A variety of tools and equipment can be used to assist in the survival of the Apocalypse, which also will be found during the course of the event. Thinking on your feet is essential for survival, as quick thinkers will have a distinct edge over dullards. Not every challenge can be overcome by brawn. Players will experience both sides of the Apocalypse. We expect that each and every survivor will eventually become zombified, but that’s just the way it is. Few people actually survive the Zombie Apocalypse, and that will be accurately represented throughout the event. Players that get turned into zombies early in the game will get to play bigger and better zombies later on. It’s only a matter of time until you become Dead Meat.
