Chicago Author Martin Mundt’s “Reanimated Americans” Zombie Photo Contest
by Chad Savage on Nov.07, 2011, under Chicago Zombie News & Events, Zombie Books & Readings
In celebration of the release of Martin Mundt’s REANIMATED AMERICANS, Creeping Hemlock Press is pleased to announce THE ZOMBIE CENSUS.
Are you a zombieholic? A cadaveriffic cadet? An undead aficionado? Have you always wanted to see yourself through milky uncomprehending eyes? Or are you just going as a zombie for Halloween? If you said “Yes” to any of these questions, you should know that speaking responses aloud to internet questionnaires is actually unnecessary! And also that this contest is for you… They want to count you among the living dead!
It’s simple: email them a photo of yourself as a zombie, DMV/photo ID style, just like the pics on this page. You can use make-up or Photoshop or both (but please, none of those silly zombie apps—show some creativity).

NMTC needs ZOMBIES!!
by Chad Savage on Oct.09, 2011, under Chicago Zombie News & Events
New Millennium Theatre Company (the theater company that brought you Boomstick! A Musical Parody of Darkness, The Texas Chainsaw Musical, and Manos: Rock Opera of Fate) presents Silent Night of the Living Dead a stage parody of the George A. Romero classic Night of the Living Dead. Just because there is a zombie apocalypse doesn’t mean we can’t be civil at Christmas time. We are seeking volunteers to perform as the “zombies.” We are looking for actors with their own zombie makeup and costumes and character to commit to any or all performances of the show. We would need you for a couple nights during tech week and then ideally every night of the show but a split schedule can be made if we have enough interest- we need about 6 or so zombies a night. There are no lines involved, nothing to memorize, simply looking for great zombie characters to wander the stage and try to eat the brains of the family as they desperately attempt to hang onto the Christmas spirit. If you are interested in ruining Christmas with your zombie awesomeness, please contact our Zombie Wrangler at silentnight@nmtchicago.org

Musical of the Living Dead
by Chad Savage on Sep.09, 2010, under Chicago Zombie News & Events, Chicago Zombie Stage Shows
OPENING OCTOBER 7, 2010
Billed as a “Musical Zom-com” (zombie
comedy), Musical of the Living Dead is an original musical parody of
classic zombie films and musical theatre. Featuring music inspired by
everything from Gershwin to Green Day, Musical of the Living Dead
follows the lives of ten very different people trapped in a farmhouse
during the breakout of a zombie apocalypse. They are all brought
together seeking refuge from the brain-eating zombies outside and,
following classic zombie genre rules, we see who gets eaten, who comes
back to eat someone else and who lives to fight another day.
Musical of the Living
Dead features several sequences of carnage – each one more visceral than
the last. The cast will be bloody…the first few rows of the audience
will be bloody…and everyone will have a bloody good time – laughing and
being horrified all at the same time.
- Directed by Marc Lewallen and Brad Younts
- Produced by The Cowardly Scarecrow Theatre Company
- Presented at the Charnel House
Dates: October 7 – October 31, 2010
Thursday –Saturday with a special performance on Halloween
Time: All shows at 7:30 pm
Charnel House, 3421 W. Fullerton Ave., Chicago, IL 60647
