On Sunday, May 30th, get ready to party like it’s 1959 at RETRO ZOMBIE TIKI TERROR 2, a night of zombie fun set in the tiki wonderland that is The Tiki Terrace in Des Plaines, IL. RETRO ZOMBIE TIKI TERROR 2 will feature a Polynesian floor show, Zombie Pinups Beauty Pageant, Zombie Costume Contest, raffles, prizes, zombie movies, tiki tunes and, of course, delicious tiki drinks!

Tentative itinerary (subject to change):

• 6:00 – 8:00 : Socialize, eat, drink and be scary!
• 8:00 – 9:00 : Live Polynesian Floor Show
• 9:00 – 10:00 : Booze & Shmooze
• 10:00 : Kids, go home – 18+ after 10:00
• 10:00 : Zombie Costume Contest
  Guys & Dolls, come dressed in your zombie finest and compete to win fabulous prizes!
• 11:00 : Zombie Pinups Beauty Pageant
  Ladies, put on your sexiest classic pinup outfit and your most gruesome zombie make up, and compete to win awesome prizes! Judging will be based on quality of make up / effects and costume. All contestants will be photographed for a special gallery at ZombiePinups.com; to get an idea of what we’re looking for, visit the gallery at ZombiePinups.com, and start planning your character NOW!

Enjoy fine food, tiki drinks, classic music, zombie movies and other Chicago zombie dudes & dames in between events! Every ticketholder gets a raffle ticket, so you never know when you’ll win something spectacular.

Tickets are $15.00 in advance, $20.00 at the door - purchase advance tickets HERE. Ticket does NOT include food or drinks. The Tiki Terrace has a full menu of Polynesian-themed food. Pre-sale tickets are only available until Midnight of May 16th. After that, the full price of 20.00 will be charged for tickets.

RETRO ZOMBIE TIKI TERROR 2 will take place from 3:00 pm to 2:00 am on Sunday, May 30th, at the Tiki Terrace, 1591 Lee St., Des Plaines, IL 60018, approximately 4 minutes north of O’Hare International Airport. Tiki Terrace is located at the NE Corner of Lee/Manheim and Oakton. It’s in a shopping center – keep a sharp eye out or you’ll drive right by it.

“Zombies on Ice ’09 was a bit different from the first one last year. It was a tad colder, a bit gloomier, and far fewer zombies attended – only 40 or so came out this year for the now-annual skating event that started at 2:30pm on Saturday. But one thing it DID have over last year: A more intimate feel.

What do I mean by that? Well, everyone was able to interact with everyone else. The public did not feel so over whelmed,  interacted more with us and took more pictures with us (or perhaps that was because of the giant Santa sack filled with candy!).

One of the security staff informed us that we were (yet again) better-behaved than the yearly Santa mob that come around, for which Kitty was thanked repeatedly. Unofficially of course.

Those that came, both in and out of make-up, gathered around 5:00pm for a 6 block jaunt to the Christkindlmarket in Daley Plaza.

More group pictures. More surprised reactions, laughs and high fives from young and old alike.

Some people seemed a tad disappointed in the numbers, but Kitty couldn’t have been happier.

It may not have been as grandiose as last years event but it sure did feel like a Christmas family outing.

Thank you to all who attended, we missed those that could not, and we shall see you in 2010!

Alrighty folks! It’s a late start, but we are still going to be hitting the ice this year from 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm on December 19th, McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink Millennium Park

We got GREAT reviews last year, people said we were better behaved than the Santas that come around. AWESOME! So lets keep it up! No dripping gore or blood please, and be friendly. This is a celebration of holidays and weirdness, so lets have fun with it!

There is no Bears game that day, so parking shouldn’t be all that bad. Since Zombies on Ice is on a Saturday this year, for anyone that would like to hit the Christkindlmarket afterward, we may shamble on over for some yummy warm drinks.

And for those of you over 21, we may just end up hitting a bar or two that evening.

So dress festive, bring some skates so you don’t have to rent them, and lets have some silly fun!

ZOMBIES ON ICE 1, 2008

At least 187 zombies turned out at the McCormick Tribune Plaza & Ice Rink Millennium Park on Sunday, December 14, 2008 to join Kitty Zombie for the first ever Chicago Zombies On Ice.

The skating zombies were met by a surprising amount of press coverage (read the Chicago Sun-Times Article), with articles that ran in the local newspapers, radio and TV, not to mention tons of photos and video for the internet.

Everybody had a great time and, more importantly, all the zombies behaved themselves, creating further goodwill in Chicago for zombie flash mobs (unlike those unruly drunk Santas that hit the ice rink the night before!)

Bristol has opened its oaken gates to Chicago/Milwaukee’s zombie citizens, offering a VERY special zombies-only discount, and sectioning off the Cotwolds Commons area exclusively for the undead! There’ll be prizes, contests, raffles, activities and more! Also known as The Glade, the Commons will be appropriately decorated with a medieval (med-evil?) zombie theme to give it that freshly-dug-grave feeling.
